Re-use concept active Reefer containers at Cool Logistics Global Conference

Via Port of Antwerp, Remant Cool Logistics was a co-sponsor of the Cool Logistics Global Conference that celebrated early October its 10th anniversary at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Antwerp. Remant Cool Logistics invited two industrial food processing companies on the podium to present their case “Reefer containers by inland shipping in Belgium” and to put the concept of re-use in the spotlight.
Agristo (producer of frozen potato products) and Crop’s (manufacturer of frozen vegetables, fruit and ready meals) gave a comprehensive presentation by means of a conceptual film in which they mapped out the entire process that absorbs and even reduces congestion on our Flemish roads in and around the seaports through the reuse of active reefer containers.

    How exactly does it work?
The reefer containers that are unloaded at Crop’s Ooigem from their import flow can be reused by Agristo Wielsbeke (3 km away) for one of the Agristo export flows (subject to correct agreements with the shipping companies and after PTI (Pre Trip Inspection) at the inland terminal). Such procedure removes many empty kilometres from the roads, supports the shipping companies by enabling a multiple use of the reefer unit for paying cargo and creates flexibility to importer and exporter. The result is a more efficient use of the reefer containers, which ensures a higher turn-around of these units.

With thanks to Carmen Wallays (Agristo) and Thomas Vanhoutte (Crop’s) for their  willingness and professional preparation & presentation.

Also thanks to artifizzfilms.com for delivering the conceptual film.
